By Road Travelling along the A69 from the East (Newcastle) take the right turn to Greenhead where the A69 becomes dual carriageway 3.5km West of Haltwhistle. At Greenhead turn left then immediately right following the B6318 to and through Gilsland. Travelling along the A69 from the West (Carlisle) take the first left turn signed Spadeadam and Gilsland, after the Northumberland county border sign. In Gilsland follow the road around to the left, over the river bridge and take the next left along the B6318.

By Bus From Carlisle, Brampton and Haltwhistle. The Hadrian's Wall bus stops on request at the junction 150 metres from Slack House Farm during the summer months. Click here for the online timetable. By Rail To Haltwhistle station from Carlisle and Newcastle
